I Killed A Vampire For My Christmas Break by Sam Whittaker
5.0
The follow-up to I Killed A Werewolf For My Summer Vacation (previously reviewed here - definitely check it out as it was awesome). Quick recap: In the first book, 10 year old Allen finds himself the target of the werewolf that killed his best friend. Lots of death happens, and eventually, Allen manages not to die. Now Allen is back. This time round, it's the early 90s, and he's a 15 year old with new friends, trying to get through high school unscathed and forget the events of 5 years ago. Obviously, he has the worst luck in the world because now there's a vampire in town, killing classmates and shit.
Just like the first book, this one was brilliant. It was a fast-paced read that I flew through. Brilliantly written, it threw out a lot of what we think we know about vampires (proper vampires, not those twinkly twats).
If you love the 80s, 90s and horror monsters I would highly recommend the first two books. I'm about to start the third book now, so we'll see what poor Allen has to go through next.
