Island Witch by Amanda Jayatissa

There’s no reason for this to have been as boring of a read for me as it was. I loved the idea of a historical fiction with horror aspects seemingly from female rage. It sounded great; I was excited.
But unfortunately, this just dragged for me. Amara was so naive for so long and I needed her to get angry earlier. Everyone else in the town was terrible. Nothing important happened until 85% in and then it ALL happened and we’d had no hints of what was coming before then. The big reveal didn’t happen until 93% in. I did not want to keep picking it up, but I did and in the end… I just wish it had been executed differently.
