Skyward, Vol. 1: My Low-G Life by Joe Henderson

5.0

The fact that Lee Garbett manages to convey how the characters move differently in water versus air is so impressive - in the hands of a lesser artist the physics of the two environments would look exactly the same. His art absolutely blew me away in this volume, and Antonio Fabela's colouring is nothing short of beautiful. I've never seen a technically dystopian world look so joyful and unbound.

Joe Henderson's writing is great, too. Aside from the sheer imaginativeness of the story, the excellent world building, and the fully realised characters, his dialogue is really funny and sweet.

I really loved this book. I am absolutely going to be on picking up the next two and I'm very sorry that it only lasted fifteen issues, because at this standard I'd read a hundred.
