i will admit of the three collections i've now read of his this was probably the weakest in my opinion. that being said, i fancied all the stories totally fine and it's still a nice strong collection. the commonplace, creeping, esoteric sort of horror ito does so well comes across especially gothic in this one; art and class are recurring themes. it's a good quick gripping read. "used record," "marionette mansion" and "painter" were my favourites out of this bunch.
