I really enjoyed the somewhat atypical approach this book had to approaching the discussion of cults, especially when it focuses on ‘modern’ iterations of cults that deviate from what we typically imagine a cult being (like the crossfit example). There was one point I really disagreed on and it was ‘you can’t convince anyone to believe anything if they don’t want to,’ which on a super basic level, sure! But the insistence that ‘it never happens under any circumstance’ was a bit extreme.
