The Sun and Her Flowers by Rupi Kaur
2.0
2.5 stars
It felt more personal than the first one, but more disjointed. The themes seemed random and not well-conntected.
Some poems had a good message but were not well-constructed, and often too "in the nose" to be poetic. While other read just like statements or "tweets".
I believe if Rupi had explored each theme individually instead of creating this rhetorical form and flower metaphor it would have been a better book.
I appreciated, however, that she had dived more in depth into the gritty personal details that exposes the poet's soul, and not kept it on a surface-level.
