I have a crush on Carmen Maria Machado's brain

Reading Machado's work makes me feel like I should sit down and write something. She plays around with horror, fantasy/scifi and lit fic in a way I have never seen, utilizing them perfectly to not only build an atmosphere but as important elements by which she explores the central theme of the female form.

I'd have to say "The Husband Stitch", "Inventory", "Eight Bites", and "Difficult at Parties" are the ones that stand to me the most, but each story is so genius that it's really difficult to narrow down which is my favorite.

Recommend a billion percent, esp for fans of speculative fiction!
