Enemies of the State by Tal Bauer

3.0

3.5/5 First of all, I think this book just isn't quite for me, so if this seems like your jam, ignore me. I love Tal Bauer. I don't think I've ever rated any of his books lower than a 4. However, I had put this book off for a while because it didn't seem up my alley and it turns out I was right. I'm sure it's just as well written as all his others and if you're into political thrillers, I'd really recommend this. I don't think I am though. It was a lot more politics than I wanted. Also, I never really connected with Ethan or Jack. I'm not sure why. While it was a slow start (because of the politics, mostly), it did really pick up and get exciting toward the end. I loved how these two faced extremely unique conflicts, both because of being the president/secret security and because of *things* that happen. And, I was rooting for them the entire time. 1/5 spice levels.

PS the twist? got me good. I'm obsessed with that part.

Notes: slow burn, president/secret service, forbidden, secret romance, bi/gay awakening, friends to lovers, political thriller
