Children of the Dark by Jonathan Janz

4.0

Personally, I had a lot of fun with this novel. It has everything I could want: caring and realistic characters, creatures, dumb small-town cops, a serial killer, teenage “love,” and a strong sibling bond. Janz’s book here should be optioned for film immediately and be given a decent budget, as I could see this being a hit on the silver screen. His prose isn't on par with other writers in the horror community, but that can be looked past, as the cool concepts and fun story are still on display. It had laughs, dread, action, heart, and a lot of fun. Recommended. 3.5 stars.
