This was a fantastic start to a new Fantasy series and Denise has made this a strong foundation for building on this. I love the well rounded characters who develop during the storyline and we can see that there is a potential romance bubbling under the main storyline. The world is set in the real world however there is subtle details that has been changed which means that this adds to the mystical elements of the world which make it different from the one that we live in. Between the characters and the world building this has captured me and can not wait to be able to fit in the sequel into a TBR in the future.
