Girlsplaining by Katja Klengel
2.0
The graphic novel by Katja Klengel is an essay-style collection of stories about Klengel's coming of age. Klengel brings up many points about what it means in today's society to be a woman. This includes topics of media, shaving, appearance and other societal norms that women are often held against. Klengel describes her journey navigating these norms and how she managed to shed some of the pressures placed upon her. It is very tongue and cheek. The reason for my two-star review is that it all felt predictable. As a forward-thinking woman a lot of the content I could relate to but it was not new information to me. I also found some of the storylines to be dull. I just found the book to be okay, not great.
