The Rift, Part 2 by Bryan Konietzko, Michael Dante DiMartino, Gene Luen Yang

The level of story and character development even in the comics continues to amaze me. It’s everything I wanted and more, but never had access to. I’ve missed having new content about these characters for a good ten plus years and I’m just soaking every second of it.

This installment was no less amazing. Even if I had any criticism, they’d simply be lost in the happiness I feel from reading about this world.

Spoiler But one thing that struck me, as an ATLA and LOK lover, was how Aang also manages to hurt his relationship with the past avatars. Although unknowingly of its consequences, he /chose/ to break off his connection with Roku. Yet, he was still able to connect with Avatar Yangchen’s spirit through the ritual. It means there’s hope even after the cycle restarts with Korra. I’m sure the writers will use it as an opportunity to expand on the world and do something cool, or at least, satisfying with it.
