Lo is a journalist who (despite being traumatized from a burgle) desperately wants to get on board a fancy ship and do some reporting... gosh, how did we know something bad was going to happen on a ship full of rich people...
Okay, well, it isn't as bad as Titanic but clearly, when you get on a ship in a book/film, something bad is going to happen. No one wants to read about a journalist who gets on a ship, does some reporting, and then goes home happy without incident.
Anyways. Lo is eventually convinced that she's stumbled upon a murder and that a woman is missing. Instantly, people start telling her she's wrong and that there's no way anything bad has happened. Not a single soul is missing from the ship.
After being told this several times, she starts her own investigation and continues it even when she's warned not to. Surprise surprise, she gets kidnapped and locked away in a cabin. Don't worry, this is a great place to delve further into the story and figure out the who, what, when, where, why -- yeah, there's a big ol' murder plot going on here! And of course, it involves the "woman in cabin 10" who shouldn't really be there at all.
Now, I'm not going to give the ending away.
If you thought that was a spoiler, it isn't. That's me telling you I'm not crazy enough to give away the ending. Look, I know it is an older book and I was late to the party on this one, but it really was a fun read from cover to cover. Is there a twist? Yes, of course, but it was a decent one. All in all, definitely a 4 star book!
