Let Me Lie by Clare Mackintosh

3.0

3.5*

We are introduced to Anna two years after her father ended his life, and almost one year since her mother did the same. Anna herself has a new born baby and her partner Mark has moved in with her into the family home - left to her after the demise of her parents, along with a share in their car dealership business which she has joint with her Uncle Billy. As Christmas approaches, and along with it the anniversary of her mother's death, Anna receives an anonymous card in the post hinting at the possibility that maybe the suicides were not quite what they seemed...

As Anna digs into the lives of her parents she starts to receive warnings, and feelings of her mothers presence. Is someone trying to tell her something?

As with Clare's other books you have the standard multiple view points of 'victim', 'perp', police etc, and as always this gives a good well rounded story from several different angles. Clare's writing is very compelling and with the perfect pace to keep you hooked and interested all of the way through. As to be expected the 'very twisty' (if you know, you know) moments happen towards the end of the book and these do not disappoint! I wasn't completely wowed by them which explains my 3.5* rating but I did enjoy the book - I particularly loved the character of Murray - so well worth a read!
