Thunder and Rain by Charles Martin

3.0

I can't decide on giving this book a three or a four star rating. For one thing, it glorifies a gun culture which I just can't get on board with. On the other hand, it also shows a definite battle between good and evil. But is there always only black and white and never grey as the main character believes? I do like certain themes in the book, though: the toll of the all-consuming intensity of the job on law enforcement families; the evil of abuse; forgiveness; the importance of open communication in relationships; and faithfulness to one's marriage. Things I didn't like: there were pages where the story really dragged and I really didn't care about the details of the guns and the stake outs; and too many places where there were naked bodies. However, I was also glad there were no steamy bedroom scenes.
I did feel like he is a good author so I will definitely be looking for more Charles Martin books to see if I like them better than I did this one.
