THE UNSEEN by Katherine Webb

A slow burn murder-mystery, but one that is chock full of well-researched historical references that were quite interesting.

In 2011, Leah is investigating the origins of some letters found on an unidentified and mummified WWII soldier. The info she gathers leads to a small Berkshire village in England.

In 1911, fresh out of prison after her involvement in a Suffragette demonstration, Catherine “Cat” Morley, has secured a position as a servant to Reverend Albert Canning and his wife Hester. Cat is ambitious, feisty, and refuses to settle for a life as a servant.

Hester is young and naive. She doesn’t understand why Albert refuses to consummate their marriage. (
