welcome to 'Kai Cries Multiple Times Reading Like They Do Whenever They Watch The Movie'
this was an absolutely STUNNING novelisations of one of my favourite films of all time. it really drives home, even moreso, the dark fairy tale vibes that del toro created with his movie. it is magic, heartbreak, beauty, despair, everything. I fucking love this story. I love Funke's writing, Del Toro's vision.
if you're a fan of the film, read this.
if you read this and haven't yet, watch the film.
and can we talk about the GORGEOUS art work by Allen Williams???? every illustration on every page brings its all to life. I adore this so much. HIGHLY recommend.
