Objectively, this book is a bit meh. It's a middle of the road kind of good. The pacing at the beginning is a bit slow, but thankfully it picks up after a while. However, the second half of the narrative does have some weird time jumps. Overall, I think the pacing of the book is very lacklustre and leaves something to be desired. I also had a few issues with some of the language choices. My issues across the board, when it comes to the language in a novel, are usually to do with cliches or believability, and I found a few issues with these while reading this. One thing I couldn't stop thinking about while reading was the fact that I don't recall there being one instance of an adult women whose boob weren't described! Was this book written by an old white man? Surprisingly not.
Now, onto the good things! The character building was really good. Despite the issues I had with the writing, I did find myself falling in love with the characters and really empathising with their situation/s (I literally made a note on one scene that read "this is making my heart ache"). Also - warning - there is spice in this book, but it is not overpowering in the slightest. I think this would be a good starting point for beginners of spice in literature. Being someone who writes spice, it was natural for the tension to be there between the characters (as spicy writers just have a flare for tension), however the tension between the two main characters was so intense!
