okay so i'm definitely having a mafia moment, sue me!! i will NOT apologize, just like dominic taught me 😤😤
what i loved loved loved
💎plus size fmc
💎fast-paced
💎smutty (obviously)
💎val finally starts to feel like she has a family, both within dom's family and her own. king is a proud man but not too proud to ask for forgiveness for his shortcomings when it came to his sister. he failed her, along with everyone else that was supposed to take care of her.
💎a lot of people call val childish because she's still working through her trauma, she's only 25 though. i WISH i had the chance to go and hug my 25 year old self and tell her it's gonna be okay one day. val has hardly ever had a support system and she tried her best to build a life with what she had.
💎therapy being normalized
i've never read so many consecutive plus size fmc books, and now i don't know if i can ever go back. reading about a body that looks like mine in these scenes just HITS DIFFERENT.
look, i did like this book A LOT, but i did not love it as much as i loved king.
-maybe sav and king will just always be my faves <3
-anyways, dominic and val meet and fall in love in a whirlwind romance and of course nothing is actually as it seems. i gobbled up their story like it wasn't almost 500 pages long?
-i know that this is part of the whole "dark romance unhinged mmc" bit but i don't really think i've forgiven dom for what he did (HE DID NOT CHEAT JUST TO CLARIFY!!!)
-dom did not go down on valentine enough
-the most exciting conflict in this book was only in the last like 7% and i just can't bring myself to rate it 5 stars when it didn't get super exciting until then. like be fr this is a MAFIA romance!!!
i still really enjoyed and i'm really excited to star hans soon <3
