Alma and How She Got Her Name by Juana Martinez-Neal

5.0

I received a copy of Alma and How She Got Her Name by Juana Martinez-Neal from Candlewick Press in exchange for an honest review.

Alma has a really long name and so she goes to her father about it - perhaps they could shorten it so it's easier for her to write. Her dad then tells her the origins of her name - the wonderful, brave, and kind relatives who inspired the names within her name. Alma learns that her name was given with so much love and thought and embraces it. This is a fantastic story that celebrates names, family, and culture.
