No. 6: The Manga, Volume 01 by Atsuko Asano, Hinoki Kino
4.0
4 stars.
I've been wanting to get back into this series and continue forward for a while, so I'm happy that I've finally reread it. I think I was able to get into the story easier, since I had already knew what I was getting into. I still really like Shion and Rat. I'm curious to see how their relationship develops. I'm also curious if Shion's friend or mom are going to try and contact him and go against the city as well. I would like to know more about how this city came to be and what the West Block is like. There are so many unknowns about everything and I'm excited to see where the story goes.
First read (May 4-6, 2021):

Oooh, this is really interesting! This laid a lot of the groundwork for what to expect in the latter volumes and I'm really excited to continue. I like Shion and Rat's relationship and how they seem to understand each other, even in their first encounter where they were strangers. I like that Shion has never bought into the idea that city is flawless. I'm nervous for his mom and best friend and how the government might hurt them to draw out Shion. I'm curious to understand more about the deaths caused by those bees. I feel like maybe the government planted them into the citizens and uses them to monitor and make sure citizens stay loyal to the city and kills anyone who starts questioning the society. There's so much that we don't know and I'm really looking forward to continuing and seeing how fleshed out the world is.
