A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett
5.0
Even better than the movie
I have watched the movie adaptation many times and had no idea it was based on a book, it was only after I read the secret garden and this came up as another of the authors works I realised it existed. I am so glad I did, this book is incredible, full of imagination and wonders, it makes you feel like a child again with the belief that anything is possible, it is well written and not a difficult read, though some of the names might be difficult for some children. As with some of the servants in the secret garden Becky's (the scullery maid's) accent is written phonetically so it is easy to do the voices if you are reading or loud. Overall an excellent book for adults and children who have a good levelof comprehension.
