999 by Heather Dune Macadam is a well written, well researched, and very comprehensive account of 999 (mostly) Slovakian women on the first transport to Auschwitz in 1942. It was heartbreaking and very hard to read at times, but I was impressed by the author's dedication to telling the story of these women during World War II.
