The Bombshell Effect by Karla Sorensen
3.0
The Good Parts:
I liked the characters. I liked their characterizations. I can visualize them, hear them, and so on. I bought the dynamics between each character. They were real enough for me. I certainly was not bored.
I liked all the tropes explored in this story. That is why I was here, to begin with.
The writing was decent. Nothing that stood out as glaringly improper per see.
I enjoyed the writing. It surely kept me interested.
The Not-So-Good Parts:
I didn't like the direction the story took from the later part of Act 2. The way the characters acted, the decisions they made, the side-stepping of their clearly established motivations and goals - it was all frustrating, to say the least.
Don't get me started on the resolution of the story!
The plotting was full of conveniently placed moments and beats, too.
These scenes and plot moments took me out of the story every time I happened to come across them. Every. single. time. It was just simply frustrating.
Conclusion:
All in all, not a huge disappointment of a reading experience.
I will definitely give the other books in the series a chance. Maybe even the author's other works.

Spoiler
Like when Luke came back in IN THE SAME SCENE, not days apart, not even hours apart, to apologize to Allie because his Mom told him to do so! In like a two-minute phone conversation. Yep. Seriously. These scenes and plot moments took me out of the story every time I happened to come across them. Every. single. time. It was just simply frustrating.
