The Other Black Girl by Zakiya Dalila Harris

3.0

I think this book is an important one—it touches on and discusses issues of race and diversity in publishing, which I can imagine are partly drawn from the author’s own experiences working in publishing. Those conversations are important and I think this novel does an excellent job of it.

However, honestly the pacing of this novel just did not work for me. I was intrigued in the beginning, but in the middle it felt like it slumped and the end felt abrupt. I liked the epilogue—I thought it was smart and well thought out, but just very sudden.
