South of Main Street by Robert Gately
3.0
*I was given a copy in exchange for an honest review*
Overall, I enjoyed South of Main Street, though it's nothing like the action-packed books I'm used to reading, which is maybe why I didn't rate it as highly as others. If you're looking for something full of action, this is not the book for you. However, if you like family dynamics and dramas, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
For my taste, I found it to have too much inward reflection in huge chunks, especially at the beginning. I found it a bit too heavy to start with, but it spreads out a little better once you get into the meat of it.
Over the course of the novel, you get to know the characters very well, and I love characters above plot (always have) so it was great to be able to get to know them intimately. Although, I did feel a few of the POV jumps were unnecessary.
This is not my type of book, but I'm sure fans of literary fiction and family dynamics will enjoy it.
