Out by Natsuo Kirino

I am not one who likes to summarize the book that I just finished, when there is a blurb already written.

I picked up this book due to a friend’s GR review of “The Devotion of Suspect X.” She wrote in her review of “…Suspect X” and I paraphrase, “It was so good, I’d put it up there with “Out” as one of my all time favorite books.

The character of Masako was one of the strongest and best written characters I have read in a long time. Fearless, smart, great intuition, surly, melancholy, and more. The way Masako kept things together to project strength to her group of friends under extraordinary circumstances, despite suffering her own emotional internal turmoil, was terrifically written . Kudos and thank you to the translator, Stephen Snyder, as well.

The ending is great. That is all I will say.

Triggers warnings: If extreme violence/gore, and sexual violence are triggers for you, please don’t read this book.
