House of Salt and Sorrows by Erin A. Craig
5.0
This is officially one of my top favourite reads this year. Probably one of my all time favourites now.
The book is a retelling of The Twelve Dancing Princesses I think, and even though I've never read the original story, I could still feel the classic fairytale vibes in it. It is beautifully written, and I am still not over how it switches from magical balls and pretty dresses, to gruesome scenes that fast.. it's really fascinating actually for someone who loves all things horror like me.
Everything takes its time to build up, and you're lead into a false sense of security, and then right when you least expect it, the plot starts unravelling till it blows your mind. At some point in the last 80 pages I thought my heart was going to burst out of my chest from the intensity and creepiness of the events unfolding in front of me.
Once again, I freaking love this so much, and it's fair to say that by now Erin A. Craig is one of my favourite authors and I can't wait to read more of her books!
