Do you ever read a book and feel so raw after that your chest hurts? Thatโs how I feel writing this review.
๐ ๐๐ผ๐ผ๐ธ ๐๐ป๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ๐บ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป: The Ex Vows by Jessica Joyce
๐ ๐ฆ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฒ๐: Standalone
๐ ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ฒ๐๐ฎ๐ถ๐น๐: E-book on Kindle. Borrowed from Libby.
๐ ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐ฟ๐ฒ: Contemporary romance
๐ ๐ง๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐: Second chance, friends-to-lovers-to-strangers-to-lovers, all of the feels, heโs loved her all along, love letters, forced proximity.
๐ ๐ฆ๐๐ป๐ผ๐ฝ๐๐ถ๐: Georgia and Eli have been broken up for five years, skirting each other and their friends. Until their best friendโs wedding starts falling apart, and they have to work together to fix it.
๐ ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐๐ถ๐ฒ๐: Itโs like Jessica Joyce went to my therapy sessions and wrote a book about it. I feel so emotionally seen by someone Iโve never met, itโs impressive. And thatโs what reading is about / this is the catharsis I am looking for. Even if I am going to have to read alien smut to shake these emotions free.
Iโm always surprised when a single POV book slaps this hard. I loved Jessica Joyceโs first book, You With A View, and was so excited for this releaseโฆ and then Iโm 10 percent in and tearing up. Iโm at 50% and sobbing. Iโm highlighting passages that have nothing to do with the actual romance. Iโm finishing the book and shutting my eyes so tight I see stars.
I mean listen - Eli and Georgia are fated. Theyโre so beyond swoony. The last 20% of this book made my heart fill. There was some added spice here too that really rounded the book out well.
Overall, this was one of those that was so much more than a romance novel, and will stick with me for awhile.
