This book was every bit as good as the one before it! I felt like I was reading A Memory Called Empire again for the first time. Don't get me wrong, it was different and introduced new ideas and narrators and a more cynical view of the empire, but the vibes remained consistent.
One thing I really appreciated was that the romance was not neglected, as is often seen in stories where romance is not the main focus. Mahit and Three Seagrass were still wonderfully three-dimensional characters and their every interaction was exquisite to read.
The plot and worldbuilding were also great as always and this review must be useless by now because I loved everything about this book. I would recommend the series for anyone who likes space operas and to those looking for queer representation in their sff.
