Pachinko by Min Jin Lee

This was incredible - such a caring and heartfelt and honest saga, following an entire family of Korean immigrants in Japan throughout generation, spanning the entire 20th century. You can tell how carefully researched and thought-out this story is, and the characters are wonderful and so real - I've cried with, hoped with and been annoyed at every single one of them at least once, and in that this book is just such a good portrayal of what it is to be human, touching also on themes such as belonging and national identity,, nature vs nurture, hope, and one's place in history and its changes.

I will definitely be reading more Min Jin Lee in the future.
