Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro

5.0

absolutely fascinating commentary on AI rights, synthetic biology, and the minds of both machines and man. the characters are crafted so organically in this story — especially, surprisingly, klara (a non-organic being). what i perhaps love most is the minimalistic, almost childlike narrator—where we as the readers are left piecing details about the world together because of its unreliability. so so beautiful
