my 4 star rating is not indicative of siken’s skill… dude is a MASTER. personally, i like siken most when hes left aligned and writing huge chunks. he jumps around in his pieces a lot and it can be disorienting. the ragged poems in this are strong but the left align keeps us grounded. the strongest to me were “Saying Your Names” and “You Are Jeff.” great to read his early work, excited to read recent work
