It feels amazing when you finish reading a murder mystery especially when you can't stop adoring the main character. Redemption being my first book by Baldacci, I wasn't prepared for how magnificent this book would turn out to be. Its the fifth one in the Amos Decker series and now I want to read them all. I cannot remember the last time I had this much fun while reading a thriller book.

When FBI consultant Amos Decker comes back to his hometown to visit the graves of his wife and daughter, he has someone waiting for him. Meryl Hawkins, the convict from his first homicide case 13 years back pays Amos a visit and stresses that he was innocent all along. With the cancer eating him up, Meryl wants his name cleared before he dies. But before Meryl could help him with the details, he is murdered. Amos then sets off to find the real murderer who killed four people and shifted the blame on Meryl. He teams up with his old partner Mary Lancaster to do things right. This case which seemed easy years ago, turns out to be quite complicated when Amos sees the case from a new perspective.

The story takes an unexpected turn in the very last chapters and I was left in awe by the entire reading experience. It's always an advantage when the story doesn't get predictable and this book leaves you waiting to know what happens next. @davidbaldacciauthor is a pro at nailing the character development while building the story smoothly. I'll be reading many more books by him and there's no doubt that I'll truly enjoy them all. An adrenaline filled police story while focusing on importance of relationships and humanity. A must read for all the readers who crave for a gripping story.
