It is really hard to rate books like this, so i rated each one.
Overall enjoyed, some stories are way better than others.
<Spoilers>
1. The best revenge by R.L Stine : 4/5
I love a good simple plot twist sometimes, and this was one that I quite enjoyed. I'm not even a big fan of zombie horror, but this is a good one.
2. Raw head and bloody bones by Bruce Hale : 2.7
Ehh, this one was okay, I like the Halloween elements and spooky haunted house, but the ending with the monster killing was kinda boring for me. I'm not sure why.
3. Bricks and bones by Emmy Laybourne : 3.5
I liked this one it wasn't scary, but it did have a ghost and a cute little ending, so the scare scale 1/5 but overall, it's a good little story.
4. Ring and Run Steve Hockensmith : 2/5
This story was alright. Again, I liked Halloween elements. I didn't really care for the rest. I know the concept of death is scary to many, just not me.
5. The Unknown Patriot by Chris Grabenstein : 2/5
It's more of a fun story story than a spooky, although I guess america in itself is kinda scary, lol.
6. Summer of Sharks π¦ by Lisa Morton : 3/5
Another more fun read, then spooky! I did like the overall story, though I don't like that sharks get a bad reputation. However, these were also humans that could shape-shift into sharks so not as bad.
7. Rule Seven by Ray Danel : 2/5
This one was okay. Again, I love Halloween and haunted houses, but this was nothing special.
8. Cat got your tongue π by Wendy Corsi Staub : 2.5/5
It was a fun short story to read, I do think it would be better as a longer nobela. I did like that cats π lol.
9. The I scream truck by Beth Fantaskey : 3/5
I enjoyed it overall. I do wonder if the whole town is in on the cannibal thing because just the kids were there at the truck in the end π€
10. The Witch of Byron's Bayou by Heather Graham : 2/5
It was alright. I did like some elements, but it kinda fell flat for me. The trop of they think some witch π§ββοΈ is chasing when, of course, halfway through, there is a real danger of an escaped serial killer. I did like reading about a good witch π§ββοΈ for once.
11. Bloodstone by Phil Mattews : 1.5
I didn't really enjoy this one, but I did enjoy the "twist" at the end, which the ghost actually was the father of the girl and him lying about the curse to save his daughter.
12. Area code 666 by Cater Wilson : 2/5
I did find this to be a fun read, but overall, it's not my favorite. I did like the sweet ending with the dead mom sending her a sign with the doll, which is very cute.
13. The trouble with squirrels by Doug Levin : 2.5/5
I found this story interesting. It mostly left me with questions like, how did the old couple get away with this for so long in this town? Or did they move there recently and just change towns every few years?
14. The necklace and the monster by Jeff Soloway : 3/5
I liked this one! I enjoyed the fantasy aspect and the idea of stories coming to life.
15. The only child by Joseph S. Walker : 4.5 /5
I really liked this one. It was creepy, and the ending was ambiguous. I think a short story like this would be a fun longer book.
16. Kamikaze iguana by Alison McMahan : 1.5/5
This one was ehhh, I didn't find it super engaging. I do love the idea of Iguanas attacking for revenge, though.
17. The nightmare express by Daniel Palmer : 3/5
This story did go the way I thought it would. However, I do love a good mystery/horror train story in general, especially since the different compartments on the train keep you on your toes
18. The girl in the window by Tonya Hurley : 3.5/5
I really liked this one! I have always loved the creepy idea of a mannequin being "alive," and this was a great take on that. Especially with its ending, not really knowing what will happen to Mable now that she is trapped in the mannequin.
19. Feed the birds by Stephen Ross : 2.5/5
These birds' hunger got a little too extreme π
Although the ending of this one was a little predictable, I still enjoyed the read. Gotta love birds π¦ π¦ββ¬
20. The platform by Peter Lerangis: 5/5
This was my favorite! I would love to read a longer story like this or watch a movie of it! Our perception is reality, and him seeing the truth is very crazy. Also, that ending I know is a common trop idea, but I still think it is fun.
