South of the Border, West of the Sun by Haruki Murakami

5.0

This the first Haruki Murakami book I've read, and I can promise it won't be the last.
I found this to be a beautifully written romance novel. The content is emotional, raw and feels deeply honest. It's apparent early and often that Murakami is a gifted writer.
There are so many quiet, reflective moments that are captured beautifully.
My favorite thing an author can do is capture a "feeling", whether it be loneliness, indecision or a deeply felt yearning. It's hard to describe when that happens, but you always know when it does.
