Dune Messiah by Frank Herbert

4.0

I really enjoyed the first one, but found that the older Paul got the less I liked him. The more “all knowing” he became the less I identified with him. After finishing the first I wasn’t sure if I wanted to continue but I really liked Jessica, who wasn’t even in this book. I was curious to see how Elena developed and I was hoping this book will be more about him trying to understand his role as an emperor instead of him acting like a pompous asshole already understanding everyone’s plot and acting really arrogant the whole time. I really liked his interaction with Chani, but most of the book seemed kind of like an LSD trip to me. I’m not a big fan of the visions, that, nowhere, and the self harm in the form of taking too much drug that is killing you.

I think the best part of the book was seeing Duncan Idaho/Hayt development. I might divulge in the third book if there’s an audiobook version of my library, but I don’t see myself finishing this series.
