Shadows so Cruel by Liv Zander
5.0
Ok...*takes a deep breath*....where did I put my emotional support animal, my ice cream, my PJs and the tissue box...
I am broken.
This book made me need recovery time! Hehe.
'Shadows so Cruel' wraps up this duet, and I have to hand it to Liv Zander. She wasn't kidding when she posted that we would be angry, we would be sad, we would probably ugly cry... but we would survive. And I did, I did survive, but I did spend parts of the book ugly crying in a corner of my sofa, whilst telling my kids that I was actually fine, I'm just reading a sad book. Hahaha.
Malyr, Malyr, Malyr...sigh. Just when we want to hate the guy, he goes and turns it around.
His character arc is superb! He's what I call an antihero. Sadistic? Yes. Broken? Yes. Redeemable? YES.
Don't give up on him. ;)
Sebian. Sigh... so so broken, but also so lovable. He was kind of like the glue in our dear thrupple.
You can't help but love him, cry with him and want to patch him back together as well. Because he is also broken. His character ark was beautiful.
Galantia. So strong! I loved her. She stood her ground and wouldn't let Malyr be forgiven too easily. But it didn't last so long that I felt it was a bit too long. A perfect edge. :)
Also so broken - but she raised above, saved herself in many ways and in the end, she became what she was destined to become.
I absolutely LOVED this book/duet. Liv Zander is a diamond and if you have never read any of her books, you are missing out. She has quickly become one of my favourites in Fantasy.
Her books are dark and full of triggers, but they are full of so much love, sexiness and also a story that just drags you in and you will not be able to put your books down.
Hand on heart this is one of the best duets I've ever read.
This duet will make you ugly cry though and it contains a LOT of triggers because of this world. It's full of bad men/women, war and more.
Stack up on your tissues folks.
