Who Killed Anne-Marie? by C.M. Thompson
5.0
Anne-Marie and Daniel have only been married a few years when they lose a baby, and Anne-Marie hits the bottle. Soon, she becomes an alcoholic with a mean streak, attacking her husband for every little thing. Daniel tidies up after her, takes her moodswings and anger, and tries to figure out the best way to leave that doesn't make him seem like an arsehole. When Anne-Marie ends up dead, Daniel thinks it's an accident but everyone else thinks it's him. The neighbours are determined to get rid of him, but how far will they go?
This was a really interesting read. The first few chapters flip between the POV of Anne-Marie and Daniel, both dealing with the wreckage that is their marriage, both in love with their spouse but unsure how the other feels, both unable to repair their marriage. Once Anne-Marie dies, we jump between a few other characters trying to piece together whether what happened was an accident or murder. I didn't figure out what had happened until it was revealed, and while I feel it ended rather abruptly, it was a great read.
