A thorough introduction into the fragile history between Japan and Korea told through a simple family lens. Pretty devastating in my opinion. I quite enjoyed it, although I’m partial to this particular history. It highlights important and perhaps overlooked details of the struggles of Koreans in Japan throughout the 20 century, especially delving into themes of identity. Only thing is it would’ve been nice to have a glossary of some of the Korean and Japanese terms (although more or less contextually you get the gist over time, and I assume most ppl who read this are probs interested enough in either culture to know some basics).
