Rise of the Phoenix by J.L. Madore
i like the over story the author is building up to but romance is so lacking. it’s insta everything which is what mates are. however the resisting aspect was not done well.
the story for how long it is didn’t focus on the character building. we spend so much time with characters but it’s the span of like a week but the mfc was sleeping for three.
mfc makes no sense. i understand wanting to be your own person but sometimes she would do things and i’m like why is she not being smart right now? all she needed to do was wait, get information and train for me to be like yeah girl for it. she refuses to see logic.she literally hits her mate in the head bec she wants run away to avenge her friend right finding out that fae exist and the ppl that killed her friend are fae. like huh?how bout train your powers and get unfit and THEN avenge your friend? also her mates grey matter was on the floor which is wild!
three of the men are obsessed and we have our ass hole but i think his reasoning was sound.she needed to cry to save the mate she almost killed so he said aweful things to her. was i appalled? yes. do i think he went overboard after she almost killed her sweet mate? no. the men are whatever tbh.
all in all an okay read with an annoying mfc and promising storyline ahead. will cont.
