I really wanted to love this book because I really loved the idea of it. But this book was just okay for me. I have to be honest, this book was a little too "Twilight" for me. There were so many similarities between Grayson Patch and Edward Cullen. It felt like Twilight just with zombies instead. Especially the part where Peg is telling Cori who Grayson is and they're sitting at the lunch table, that felt like a scene taken directly out of Twilight. Another similarity is how Bella had to move to Washington with her Dad, but in this book, Cori moves to Oregon with her Mom.

The biggest problem for me with this book was the fact that Grayson is such an unlikeable character. He pissed me off for most of the book, and he acts like a total douche bag most of the time. Cori was okay, but she wasn't very relatable either. I kept thinking to myself that if I had to read another fight between Cori and Grayson about his "sickness" that I would put it down, because literally every ten pages they argue over the same damn thing and it was so frustrating. At one point in the middle I was skipping pages of their fights because it was so repetitive. I had trouble picking up this book and forcing myself to continue reading due to the fact that I didn't care for any of the characters. The only thing that kept me going was to see how it all turned out. I enjoyed the last few chapters, and I like that it ends in a cliffhanger.

Another thing I want to mention (night be a small spoiler) is that Grayson and Cori say "I love you" really quickly and it was awkward because I kept thinking you barely even know each other, and Grayson had given Cori no real reason to love him. He kept pushing her away and acting like an asshole towards her, and then after the ONE time he softens up to her she thinks she's in love with him? I was so annoyed by that and I couldn't see any reason to love him. It made her character seem extremely naive. Also, I didn't really understand why Grayson (or any of the other zombies) wanted to get to know their Saves. What's the point of getting close to someone if you're gonna end up killing them? I know this was clarified in the end, but still, for 200 pages I was sitting there wondering why would they even bother getting close to her when you plan on killing her?

Other than those few things, I did enjoy this book for the most part. This is the first zombie type of book I've read. I expected it to be better, but for me it was just okay.
