i’ll start with what i like. i like world and the fighting. i’m intrigued with what’s going on as far as the major plot. i figured out traitor bec it was in our face but i like guessing thinks right.
now for what i didn’t like..
i like rooting for mfcs. the men could be literally the most meh men but as long as i like the mfc i’m happy. this is why most of my review tend to harsher on women.
with that said quin is annoying af. she makes no sense! she literally puts herself in situations that no new yorker would ever. actually any woman who grew up anywhere knows not to just walk in the middle of the night without a safety plan in place. i don’t say that to victim blame but it’s the medieval times! women barely hav had rights in present day! there was a convo on tiktok about how women would prefer to meet a bear in a forest than a man and this mfc thinks it okay to just go around investigate?poorly? with no plan in place? no weapon? no map? girl maybe instead of being horny focus on your training and get know the place you are at?check the library? yes the author said it was a smutty book but can the mfc be a little smart? capable? not an idiot? with motives that make sense?
which leads me to the romance. i think there is some magic at play to their connection but it’s never talked about. quin never has moments with the guys to show they warming to her and vice versa. she talks to them once and goes into inner monologue of who they are and it’s like how you do you know?
the smut! omg the smut! it’s so bad! no foreplay no build no lube just ramming it up the peach. no way is that pleasurable. also no bathing. they stink!!!!! just ewwwww!!!
another ewww moment is every guy is related somehow except percy. why the hell would you have guys that are related in sexual situations!??? it’s weird not to mention one of them is an uncle to of them. just eww.
anyway ill try the next book. the author did create a cool world and story which i want answers for. however if the main character doesn’t show any growth i’m out.
