Circe by Madeline Miller
3.0
I really tried to enjoy this book but at the end I find it too tedious and plain. There's no real character development or growth and any glimpses I caught of it came so late in the story that I didn't care anymore, it wasn't satisfying enough.
At the beggining I enjoyed Circe's contrast with her family, her almost humanity and seeming kindness against her arrogant and ruthless counterparts but very quickly I started to get annoyed with her ingenuity and obliviousness, she didn't seem to learn at all or actually observe and aprehend her surroundings, it frustrated me.
I almost quit reading it but I was curious of the ending and I did enjoy Miller's writing cadence, she has a very soothing quality to her words though at moments I felt she was overdescriptive.
I'm tempted to read "A song of Achilles" as I've heard great things about it, we'll see.
