really excellent and thorough history of the Queen

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was an excellent history of the life of Queen Elizabeth through her Diamond Jubilee in 2012. It took me awhile to read only because I’m not super familiar with British history so I had to stop and look up many events and major players, but I certainly learned a lot! I gave 1 star off because at times things were described with overly painstaking detail that it really became dense and hard to get through at points (mostly when describing details of ceremonies), but it does speak to just how much research the author did when writing this book!
