Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling
5.0
December 2013- I never realized how much was changed/ left out in the movie! Certain things wouldn't have been that hard to squeeze into the movie plot!
July 2020- first time with the audiobook. Superb as usual.
October 2023- my new hobby that I’m attempting to get into is book annotation. I had been planning to start with Twilight/Midnight Sun but while listening to this I realized that Harry Potter has so much more doodle potential. I spent the entire time while listening to the book drawing on transparent sticky notes. I filled an entire mini memo pad 😅 Now I just need a used copy of the book from a goodwill or something so that I can stick all of them into and eventually do a full annotation.
Now I’m going through Harry Potter withdrawal. All I want is the next book but there is a wait for the next audiobook. I really should just buy a copy of the audiobooks. After all, you can never have too many copies. I have…
1) my original set
2) my husband’s childhood set (despite the fact that he has never read them and has no intention of doing so)
3) the illustrated edition
4) kindle
5) soon to be another set for annotating
I’m actually just now realizing that I’ve only read this book 5 times. I would have thought I’ve read it more. I need to start reading them every year!!
Commentary from this read…
- 6% these books make me so happy. I am finding it impossible to resist laughing out loud as I read about the Weasley’s trying to pick Harry up via the blocked fireplace 😂
- 31% while Moody is using the Imperious curse on Harry, it says
- “‘why, though?’ Another voice has awoken in the back of his brain. ‘Stupid thing to do, really’ said the voice.”
- Like it isn’t Harry’s voice. If it was his voice, it would have said so in some way, right? Could this piece a piece of Voldemort?
- 40% “I see no difference”. It’s moments like this that make it hard to believe that Snape isn’t truly evil. Because what reason does he have for being mean to Hermione like that? Other than a pure love for simple cruelty
- 46% chapter 20… he summoned a fly into his hand but wasn’t sure if the fly was just stupid 😂
- 56% chapter 23… the description of the yule ball decorations require some sparkles when I get around to doing an annotation of the book
- 63% Myrtle is too funny
- 83% the fact that Mrs. Weasley and Bill came to serve as Harry’s family makes me want to cry 🥹
