Educated by Tara Westover

5.0

What a phenomenal memoir. Westover’s story is both inspiring and somewhat unsettling. Reading about her life growing up amongst extreme Mormon fundamentalists is jarring, and reading her accounts of the abuse she suffered from her older brother is deeply upsetting. However, her ability to overcome her past and her family’s beliefs and truly gain a sense of the world through her education—both formal and informal—is spectacular. A great way to start my reading year!
