The Paladin Prophecy by Mark Frost
5.0
Fan-freakin'-tastic multi-part coordinated complex battle scene. Tight, tight, tight writing. Five stars. The Battle of Pellinor Field would tip its hat to this battle. Every single surprise that Frost brought out of the box had been foreshadowed. And I was still surprised. Yes.
When I began this one, I did not expect such excellence (yeah, kid discovers powers, yeah, special school...). Not one single loose end that was not acknowledged as such.
Supporting characters striving for a little depth... but what teenager isn't?
I will definitely re-read. I immediately downloaded book II and am enjoying it!
The *only* thing I might quibble with, and that just in fun, is that the cross-country team is usually the nicest kids in a school not ... well. Spoilers, sweetie.
