You'd Be Home Now by Kathleen Glasgow

5.0

i finished this in a day because i was determined to read & find out every aspect. this is kathleen’s third book and probably my second favorite of hers. i really respect how she addresses the real life emotions and problems that people face. specifically in you’d be home now, a teenager has to keep living in the shadows because she doesn’t feel seen or appreciated by anyone. it home a little bit, because sometimes i really do feel invisible and like nobody really hears me or want to…also, having the tendency to find pleasure in all the things that are wrong or things that are not good for you. i was able to sympathize for jo (the mcs brother), he wanted to be better but he really thought that he couldn’t because the people around him made him feel that way. this book really serves as a reminder to be kind and considerate of other people and their feelings, also to take in consideration the people who are suffering from visible/invisible problems and even the people who get affected by their loved ones issues. One of my favorite lines that i highlighted and cherish so much is, “sometimes your life falls to ash and you sift through, waiting for the pain to pass, looking for the remnants in the debris, something to save, when really all you need is right there, inside you.” i really can’t wait to read more of this author’s work because she knows how to express pain & suffering & make you unintentionally feel it.
