Review: Just My Luck was a terrific next book in the Kings series and Lena was able to continue the mystery surrounding the King family and their secrets! Abel’s story was heartbreaking and made me hurt for all the wrong that was put on him from his father and the town he lived in. Lena was amazing at making his story on of redemption but also unconditional love and returning to Outtatowner was hilarious like always!

Abel and Sloane are a hot mess of a β€œcouple” at first and I found that this book was much more serious than the previous book in the series. Lena was able to match them up almost perfectly and the way they seemed to complement each other was next to none. The β€œfake marriage” trope of this book was also executed super well and I found that it almost seemed like it was never fake at all (especially for Abel). The way Abel was almost shy and unsure about becoming closer to Sloane and her twins tickled me and was my utmost favorite part of this book. I also found the chills that surrounded Sloane’s divorce and ex-husband to be a pivotal part in this book and one that was truly heartbreaking for a minute!

This book was a romance but first and foremost it was a story of growth and redemption. Sloane and Abel had so many demons that had to fight and overcome for their HEA and it was a well deserved one by the end. I appreciated how Lena did not tip toe around the trauma Sloane had with her ex and made it a huge point in her story as well as a struggle she had to overcome with Abel. I also found that Abel’s pat and personal demons were ones that hurt my heart the most. Seeing him reduced to tears and insecurity was emotional to read and Lena truly was able to grasp the angst that his past caused.

This book is one of my favorites by Lena so far and I enjoyed seeing more of the King siblings. I loved seeing them finally become a team and cannot wait for the rest of them to follow (especially JP and Royal!!)!

Rating: 5/5, Abel King is the emotional, bad boy with a heart of gold in this book and I am excited to get more of the Kings!

Thank you to Lena for sending me this ARC!
